Let's celebrate the New Year by meeting up for our Chicago Winter Dance Festival on Friday, January 5, 2024 - 7pm-11pm

Clara Byom (an amazing Accordionist/Vocalist from Albuquerque, NM) told me she would be in Chicago in early January
She and I discussed the possibility of her playing for the VDR for some in person dancing
So, I conjured up the idea of a Winter Dance Festival, once we got to the OK to use the Color Club's big ballroom for the event
So, we're inviting all of you ethnic dance and music enthusiasts to attend this fabulous in-person event
(we also invite our usual Friday Night Zoomers to attend online)
I've expanded the concept of Clara playing live for the Friday dance into a "Winter Dance Festival" reaching out to many folks

This event was planned very quickly and on short notice after I got the OK to use the Color Club's 2nd floor ballroom
our guest musicians will play live music sets throughout the evening

our guest dance leaders will teach 1 dance each during the evening
Stanislav Ivanov (Bulgarian), Milan Andrijanic (Serbian), Ruben Pachas (Peruvian), Nina Lusterman (Evanston Group), Paul Collins (VDR/EDC)
we'll play recorded music in between live music sets

Elston is NW Diag - Hamlin is 3800 W - plenty of street parking

Directions to the Color Club:
Exit at Irving Park Rd (4000 N, Illinois Route 19) & Pulaski Rd (4000 N) exit on I-90/94 (Kennedy Expressway)
continue from exit to Irving Park Rd (IL Route 19)
turn East on Irving Park Rd and continue East to Hamlin (3800 W) - 2nd light
turn Left on Hamlin (3800 W) and proceed N to Elston Ave (NW diagonal)
look for street parking on Hamlin or on Elston - some spots are free and some are metered, but meters stop at 9pm
also some free street parking on Avers (1 block W of Hamlin)
NOTE: Most metered spots come with a two-hour maximum parking time limit. Please check the signs to confirm as times do vary. At 10 pm (sometimes earlier), residential zone parking meters are suspended till 8 am.
